17 Days Bangkok - Cambodia - Saigon By Bike

ITINERARY

An extension of our 8days/7nights multi-country trip starting in Bangkok, this tour visits three countries in total: Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. We’ll take you from the ancient pagodas of Thailand, to the busy streets of Bangkok and across the Mekong River. You’ll cross Tole Sap Lake by boat, and experience the world-famous UNESCO heritage site at Angkor Wat first-hand. You’ll cycle through the afternoon market in Phong Dien and take a ferry trip to Tra On (one of the famous fruit towns in the Mekong) We’ll take you off the beaten path so that you may truly experience the Vietnamese countryside; you’ll cycle through tiny orchards, witness colorful life along the riverside, pedal past quaint delta homes, and pause to chat with welcoming villagers.


Day 1: Bangkok Arrival
Pick you up at the airport and transfer to hotel in Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok - Rayong 50km+ cycling (L)
Quick transfer to Pattaya, where we cycle along the coastline for about 50km until it’s time to stop for lunch. We arrive in Rayong and stay overnight here at a beach hotel.

Day 3: Rayong - Chantaburi 60km+ cycling (B, L)
After breakfast, we cycle about 60km to a mangrove study center, one of the most successful forest restoration projects in Thailand. We’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night in Chantaburi.

Day 4: Chantaburi - Pailin 47km+ cycling (B, L) (Cross border to Cambodia)
Transfer to Pongnamron and start cycling to the Cambodian border (about 27km). After going through immigration, we cycle about 20km to Pailin, a city located at the foothills of the scenic Cardamom Mountains. Stay overnight in Pailin.

Day 5: Pailin - Battambang 85km cycling (B, L)
The path between Pailin and Battambang follows the Cadarmom mountain range. As a result, this rural path and has a few climbs and down hill moments.

Day 6: Battambang - Siem Reap 18km cycling (B, L)
We take 15-minute boat trip to Siem Reap. One of the best boat trips in Cambodia, this crossing of the Sangker River allows for great people and bird watching. After that, we explore Chong Kneas floating village and cycle 15km to our hotel in Siem Reap.

Day 7: Siem Reap - Angkor Complex 25km cycling (B, L)
We take the small circuit and cycle to the Angkor Wat complex. Once we’ve reached Angkor Thom city, you’ll have some time to visit the Terrace of Leper King, the Terrace of Elephant, Baphoun, Phimean Akas, and Bayon temple. Stay overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 8: Banteay Srei and River of Thousand Lingas 90km cycling (B, L)
After short ride to Banteay Srei on the rural paths, we continue cycling toward Kbal Spean. We have time to visit the Lingas and enjoy lunch at the waterfall. Stay overnight in Siem Reap again.

Day 9: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh 18km cycling (B, L)
After breakfast at the hotel, we board a six-hour speedboat to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, we’ll take some time to visit the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and National Museum. Stay overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 10: Phnom Penh 35km+ cycling (B, L)
The morning ride goes through the bustling city of Phnom Penh. We see the Wat Phnom and Cheung Ek killing field before having lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the Independence Monument, Tuol Sleng Museum and the Russian Market. Stay overnight in Phnom Penh again.

Day 11: Phnom Penh - Takeo 67km cycling (B, L)
We cycle toward Ta Phrom and Yeary Pov temples. Heading to Phnom Chisor to visit the hilltop 11th century temple where we enjoy a packed lunch as we overlook the scenic countryside. In the afternoon, we board a sunset boat to Phnom Da and stay overnight at Mittapheap Guesthouse.

Day 12: Takeo - Chau Doc 78km cycling (B, L, D) (cross border to Vietnam)
We cycle 53km to the Tinh Bien border-crossing point. After passing immigration, we continue cycle toward Chau Doc. We will arrive in Chau Doc around sunset; those with energy to spare can climb Sam Mountain for a remarkable view.

Day 13: Chau Doc – Long Xuyen 50km cycling (B, L)
We either start cycling along the country roads between Chau Doc and Bachuc, or re-trace back to Triton (depending on road conditions). The road is quite hilly as you ride out off Chau Doc, but the path is unique. Cycle to Long Xuyen to stay overnight.

Day 14: Long Xuyen – Can Tho 90km+ cycling (B, L)
We start with a short transfer and cycling trip to the main road. In the afternoon, we’ll take a narrow, but exciting, route to Phong Dien. The route weaves through the bustling afternoon market along the riverbank. We transfer the rest of the way to Cantho for our overnight stay.

Day 15: Cantho – Tra Vinh 80km+ cycling (B, L)
We have some time to explore Cantho. Then, we’ll take a short ferry trip to Tra On, one of the famous fruit towns in the Mekong. There, we will bike along narrow country lanes, easy dirt tracks, and trails.

Day 16: Travinh - Mytho - Ho Chi Minh 50km+ cycling (B, L)
Start the day with a ride through the pretty tree lined town on Travinh. We off-road onto gravel and dirt lanes, weaving around villages, across water channels, and through quiet dense vegetation. The ride will lead us right into the heart of the rural Mekong. Transfer to Ho Chi Minh from My Tho.

Day 17: Departure Ho Chi Minh City (B)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel in the morning. Afterward, you are free to explore the city until it is time for your outgoing flight.
